Investigation after crash on Duke Street in City Centre

Merseyside Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Liverpool City Centre last night, Wednesday 9 June.

At around 7.30pm, a report was received to the ambulance service of a collision on Duke Street involving a VW Golf and a two-year-old boy. Officers were alerted a short time later.

The child was taken to hospital and is currently in a critical but stable condition. The driver stopped at the scene to assist with enquiries. Extensive CCTV, witness and forensic enquiries are ongoing.

Matrix Roads Policing Inspector Carl McNulty said: “The boy’s family are being supported by officers in what is obviously an upsetting time. We’re keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident and has yet to come forward.”
