Two men charged after police officer injured in St Helens

Two men have been charged following an incident in St Helens which left a police officer in hospital with his injuries.

It happened on the evening of Tuesday 17th May.

Umar Anwar, 30, of Birkdale Road, Rochdale, was charged with causing serious injury/GBH by dangerous driving.

Ahmmad Anwar, 26 of Deeplish Road, Rochdale, was charged with possession with intent to supply Class A (cocaine) and Class B (cannabis) drugs.

Both men were remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Knowsley Sefton and St Helens adult remand court today, Thursday 19th May.

The injured officer continues to recover in hospital from injuries to his shoulder and wrist.
