Two people have been arrested after a standoff on a roof in Liverpool.

Police were responding to a report that a wanted man had been spotted in Anfield at around 6.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 3 August).

Patrols attended and two males made off on foot. It was further reported that one of the men had discarded wraps of white and brown powder (suspected drugs).

Following a foot chase to Walton Breck Road, officers detained and arrested one of the males, a 17-year-old from Liverpool, on suspicion of possession of Class A and B drugs.

The second man ended up climbing onto a roof on Walton Breck Road.

The standoff went into the night, and he came down from the building at around 11.30pm.

The 20-year-old man from Liverpool, who was wanted on recall to prison, was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, affray, public order and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Both men ware being questioned by police.
