Flowers and candles are being left in the city's Central Park and messages of good will are coming in from fans and artists alike, all who have been touched by Lennon's music and messages of peace.
Among those celebrating the life of John Lennon are pupils at Meadow Park School in Stockbridge Village.
They've been learning all about his music and what he stood for. We've been asking them what lessons they've learned from one of Liverpool's favourite sons :
"The music he made changed the world. We are proud to be from the same city. I love Imagine, it's boss because it's all about peace. John Lennon is the number one most famous Scouser. Peace and love is the way to go."
