Teenager arrested after assaults in Liverpool city centre
A 17 year old boy from St Helens is being questioned
A teenage boy has been arrested after a series of assaults in Liverpool city centre this morning.
Police at the Queen Street Bus Station were approached at around midnight by a man claiming he'd been involved in a fight with another man at St Johns Gardens.
Officers later found a man in his 30s with a serious eye injury. He's being treated in hospital.
At around 12:50am a man turned up at hospital with injuries to his face, reporting he'd been attacked by another man.
A 17 year old boy from St Helens is now being questioned, while police comb CCTV to try to work out what happened.
Detective Inspector Alan Nuttall, of Merseyside Police, said: “Both of these incidences were very nasty attacks as both victims sustained serious injuries and are receiving hospital treatment where they still remain.
“Although an arrest has been made, I would urge anyone who was in the vicinity at around midnight and thereafter who witnessed both attacks to please contact us – as you may have vital information that could help with our enquiries.”
