Teenage cyclist dies after collision in Upton

Police investigating the death of a 15 year old boy on the Wirral, who was knocked down in a hit and run last night, have now made a second arrest.

At around 9.45pm (26th April) emergency services were called to Manor Drive in Upton, following reports of a collision involving a car and a cyclist.

The cyclist, a 15-year-old boy, was taken to hospital where he sadly died. The car, described as a silver SUV, failed to stop at the scene.

The victim’s family are being supported by specially trained officers.

Following enquiries, a 22-year-old man from Wirral was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop after a road accident. He remains in custody for questioning.

A second man – a 48-year-old from Birkenhead - has now been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop after a road accident. He has been taken into custody to be interviewed.
