A 16 year old boy has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after he was shot in Runcorn

The victim was sitting in a Ford Mondeo around 9pm on the Croft when he was attacked. Another male was seen to run from the scene.

The boy has been taken to hospital with serious injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

Superintendent Julie Westgate said: “The investigation is in its very early stages and officers are doing all they can to ascertain the facts which have led to this incident and the subsequent activity, once the firearm has been discharged.

"Enquiries are on-going to locate whoever is responsible."

“We understand the impact an incident like this can have on the local community, but I want to reassure residents that at this stage, it is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no evidence to suggest there is any threat to the wider public.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or believes they have information that can help us with our enquiries. I would urge you please to come forward.”
