Teen seriously injured in Kirkby crash

Police are appealing for anyone who saw it to come forward

A teenager's been left with serious injuries after a crash in Kirkby town centre.

The 15 year-old cyclist and a taxi were involved in the collision on St Chads Drive on Wednesday afternoon - the driver didn't stop at the scene.

Police say the teenager was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries and is in a stable condition.

Officers are appealing for information and witnesses as they try to work out exactly what happened.

Inspector Gavin Dixon said "We are keen to trace the driver of the vehicle to assist our enquiries and would also ask anyone who witnessed the incident to please get in touch.

“Likewise, if you have any dashcam footage or CCTV footage from the surrounding area or on St Chads Drive that may help us identify the vehicle involved, please let us know."
