A personalised bench from a grave in Allerton cemetery has been stolen.

The bench, which is cemented to the pavement stones beneath it, has a Liverpool badge on either side.

Connie Panayi (@Twinny_Conniehas) has reached out on twitter to look for support in finding her grandad's bench.

Since being posted yesterday (25th January), thousands of people have shared the tweet and over 300 people have commented on the post.

Despite their footballing differences, locals have put their rivalries aside to help find the missing bench.

User Blueboystew (@Stewart22795967) replied: 'Disgusting behaviour. My fam are Toffees but rest assured they will be on the lookout for the culprit/culprits'.

Connie responded saying: 'Thank you! Really appreciate that. Footie aside we’re one city aren’t we.'

The Liverpool supporter has thanked everyone that has shared the post, praising the unity of city .

Connie tweeted: 'If I could respond to you all I would. Myself and my family appreciate it all. There’s a few mad people in this world, but, the unity this city has never fails to amaze me.'
