Merseyside Police have issued CCTV images of a man they want to speak to following an attempted robbery at a coffee shop in Liverpool yesterday, Sunday 17th October.

At around 7.30am a male approached Starbucks on Edge Lane. He hit the drive-thru window with a hammer before gaining entry to the locked store.

The male grabbed hold of members of staff and made threats to open the safe before fleeing the store empty-handed. It's thought he then ran across Edge Lane towards Wavertree Park.

A police investigation is underway and CCTV enquiries have been carried out in the local area.

Officers have issued images of a man who we believe could assist with our enquiries.

Detective Inspector Chris Hawitt said:

“Thankfully no member of staff was seriously hurt during this incident but they have been left very shaken by their ordeal.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Edge Lane this morning who saw or heard anything suspicious, or thinks they captured something on a dash cam or mobile phone to contact us.

“I would also ask anyone who recognises the man pictured to get in touch as we believe he has information which is vital to our investigation.

“Nobody should be treated in such a shocking way when they are simply going about their daily business in the workplace and we are determined to find the man responsible and bring him to justice. Please come forward and tell us what you know so we can take action.”
