Stabbing near Notre Dame Catholic College

A man is injured in hospital, after the police were called to reports of a man seen carrying a knife near Notre Dame Catholic College on Great Homer Street at around midday.

The school which sent out a text to parents following the incident have now released a statement:

"There was an incident outside in the community today, which resulted in the school going into lockdown. This incident was nothing to do with the school. The police have dealt with the incident. Students are all safe and are in lessons as normal. If you have any further enquiries please contact Merseyside Police."

The college is open as normal.
