A service is being held at Liverpool Cathedral today (Monday 18 December) to remember the life of lifelong Evertonian and famous theatre producer Bill Kenwright.

He passed away in October at the age of 78 following a battle with cancer.

After beginning his career in the arts - which included a stint in Coronation Street - Bill became one of the country's most successful film and theatre producers.

He is best known for working on huge shows like Blood Brothers and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

Another of his great passions was Everton Football Club - he was invited to join the Board of Directors in 1989 and became chairman in 2004.

During his tenure, he saw his beloved Toffees reach the Champions League qualifiers in 2005 .

He sold half of his stake in 2016 to Farhad Moshiri and agreed to sell to 777 Partners in September. That deal is yet to be completed.

The club faced more difficult times towards the end of his life, with Sean Dyche leading Everton to safety on the last day of the last Premier League season.

Bill is also fondly remembered for his unwavering support of the Hillsborough families - including in 2013, when he gave a hugely emotional speech at a remembrance service at Anfield.

The service at Liverpool Cathedral is due to begin at 2pm and finish at 3:30pm.
