Police say they believe a second man could have been injured in a shooting in Kirkby - which left a 17 year old in hospital

The teenager staggered into a shop on Broad Lane yesterday afternoon and collapsed.

He's now being treated in hospital where is condition is described as serious

Detectives now say they're trying to locate a possible second victim

Reports indicate that he n was injured near to William Hill bookmakers on Park Brow Drive.

Police are urging the man or anyone who has seen him to come forward in order to ensure they are safe and well.

Chief Inspector Tammy Garvey Jones said:

"Any firearms incident is unacceptable the fact it's in broad daylight any members of the public could have been furthered injured, we're taking this very seriously"

"Urgent enquiries are ongoing, and we urge that person, or anyone who knows them to get in contact so we know they're safe and well"

Checks are being made at all local hospitals and no second person has yet been identified as having been injured in connection with this incident.

Extensive enquiries are being carried out to establish the full circumstances of what happened and to locate the offenders.

High visibility patrols have been stepped up in the area to provide reassurance to the community and a cordon will remain in place while forensic examination takes place at the scene.
