Samurai sword thought to have been used in Whiston stabbing
A man's been taken to hospital after he was attacked by what police say could 'possibly' have been a samurai sword
Police are appealing for information after a man was stabbed in Whiston yesterday afternoon, Tuesday 1 June.
At around 4.55pm, officers were called to Stuart House on Delph Lane. It was reported that a man believed to be in his 30s had been stabbed, resulting in wounds to his wrist and neck.
police say the weapon has not yet been confirmed, but is possibly a samurai sword.
The victim remains in hospital in a stable condition with injuries that are not life-threatening.
It is reported that the offender - believed to be a man in his 40s - made off from the scene in a white Ford Focus.
Detectives are carrying out house-to-house, witness and CCTV enquiries.
Chief Inspector Simon Owen said:
“At this stage the circumstances and reasons behind this attack remain unclear, although we believe that it was targeted.
“This would have been a shocking attack to witness, so if you were in the area from around 4.45pm and saw or heard anything unusual, please come forward as your information or footage could be vital. We are particularly interested in anyone who saw vehicles in the Delph Lane area - either unfamiliar to residents, or driving at speed.
“Tell us what you know and we’ll take positive action to remove dangerous weapons and those who would use them to cause fear and harm.”
