Reality TV star Jeremy McConnell is due to appear in court today charged with assaulting on-off girlfriend Stephanie Davis.

The Celebrity Big Brother contestant is due to stand trial at Liverpool Magistrates' Court.

He is accused of assaulting former Hollyoaks actress Davis during an incident at a property in Rainhill, Merseyside, on March 10.

At a previous court appearance on May 10, the 27-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal damage but denied assault by beating.

McConnell, of Swords, Dublin, first became involved with Davis when they appeared as fellow contestants on Celebrity Big Brother in 2015, months after Davis finished a five-year run playing Sinead O'Connor in Hollyoaks.
