IPCC are investigating incident on Walton Breck Road
The police watchdog is investigating after a teenage cyclist was taken to hospital with a head injury after police contact in Anfield
Police were called to the junction of Walton Breck Road and Burleigh Road North around 11.15am yesterday.
The IPCC say the boy aged 17 suffered a head injury.
Merseyside Police say they have refered the incident to the IPCC who are now carrying out an investigation
An IPCC spokesperson said: “We have begun an independent investigation after being notified by Merseyside Police of an incident earlier today in Anfield where a teenage cyclist was taken to hospital following police contact."
"We understand it happened at around 11.15am at the junction of Walton Breck Road and Burleigh Road North."
"The cyclist, a male believed to be aged 17, suffered a head injury. IPCC investigators were deployed to the scene this afternoon to begin gathering evidence and are attending the police post incident procedure.”
