Police are trying to trace a taxi driver after a man was found with serious head injuries in Aintree.

At around 4.50pm on Wednesday 27th December, paramedics found a man in his 20's injured on Warbreck Moor. The man was found on the pavement with a head injury and was taken to hospital - where his condition is described as stable. It's believed he may have been a passenger in a taxi prior to suffering his injury - and police have appealed for the driver of the black Hackney to come forward.

Detective Inspector Steve McGrath said: "At this stage we are trying to establish the circumstances leading up to the man being found with a head injury.

"As part of the investigation we want to trace the driver of a black Hackney cab which was heading from the Aintree area towards the city centre at approximately 4.50pm.

"We would appeal to that person to come forward as we believe they may have information which could assist with our investigation."
