As energy bills and fuel prices soar to record levels, There are calls from across Merseyside for the Chancellor to act fast to protect millions of homes across the country.

The Chancellor's already given a hint about what we can expect today when he said “it’s not going to be easy”, “I wish I could fully protect people against all the challenges that lie ahead. I can’t do that"
Ominous words for the tens of thousands already living in poverty right across Merseyside, and with Energy bills, National Insurance and inflation all set to surge in April, there are calls for Rishi Sunak to act now to lessen that impact
West Derby MP and Fans Supporting foodbanks campaigner Ian Byrne is one voice calling for change :
"I've been inundated with emails from worried constituents who are terrified by the rising cost of heating, the rising cost of food and worrying they are going to live from day to day.
"It's unsustainable and it's afecting millions of people in this country. It must be addressed".
In a statement Rishi Sunak says his budget WILL build a stronger, more secure economy for the UK, and that he plans to support people with the rising cost of living and pledges to continue to “stand by” hard-working families during the challenging times ahead.
