A paramedic who rushed to the aid of a young boy knocked down by a car outside Bobby Colleran's old school says Radio City's Slow Down Campaign might have saved his life

The 10 year old pupil at Blackmoor Park Primary in West Derby suffered a broken leg on Tuesday afternoon after being knocked down by a car, the exact spot where six year old Bobby was killed in 2014

He was taken to Alder Hey, and his injuries were said to be 'not serious'

Gary Earps from Fazakerly was picking up his daughters who attend the school when the incident happened and rushed to help.

He said "I just noticed two cars stopped in the middle of the road, when I got close I realised there was a child involved, lying on the floor"

"It got me thinking this can't be happening, but I just knew it's something I couldn't ignore"

"It was Bobby's birthday, and to happen exactly where it happened, and it later hit home about the impact on Jo and her family as well"

That day was Bobby's 10th Birthday and pupils at the school were remembering him that day, with many wearing Blue in his memory

Since Bobby died, Radio City have joined forces with his mum Jo to set up Bobby Zones outside schools across Liverpool. They ensure that drivers keep to a 20mph speed limit outside of schools and don't stop to ensure that children and pupils are safe.

As well as getting Bobby Zones set up in Liverpool, the campaign has grown across Merseyside

Gary's convinced that the Bobby Zone we help set up, the first one in the Slow Down for Bobby Campaign made a massive difference in the incident on Tuesday.

He said: "If what happened yesterday is a prime example, then a live's been saved because of this"

"You're not going to eradicate incidents, but what you can to is put measures in place to minamise injury or death ultimately."

"It started at Blackmoor, it's gone throughout the City and I think every school in the country should have these zones where the speed limit is low"
