Murder investigation after man stabbed in chest
A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed in the chest.
Emergency services were called to reports of the stabbing on Princess Drive in West Derby, Liverpool, at 6.30am on Sunday, a Merseyside Police spokesman said.
The man was taken to hospital by ambulance but later died.
Detective Superintendent Stephen Reardon said: "An investigation is now under way which we're currently in the very early stages of, however it is vital that anyone with information that could assist our inquiries gets in touch.
"This was a tragic incident in which a man has sadly lost his life.
"If you live in the area and witnessed the incident, or saw any suspicious behaviour this morning on Princess Drive please contact police immediately.
"Any information, no matter how small, may prove vital to our investigation."
Crime scene investigators are carrying out forensic examinations and house-to-house inquiries are under way, police said.
