A mum is urging gangs to put down their guns on Merseyside after her house was targeted by mistake

Kelly Strype and her two young children, one of them just 4-weeks old, were in their house in Thornton on Monday night when attackers shot at the property. The doorway of the home was also set on fire.

The family only moved into the property on Whinfield Road recently and police believe they were not the intended target.

Kelly says: "Don't target anybody. Don't be doing things like that. You're going to kill somebody."

She also added: "I know that seems like the intentions of these people but stop doing this - you're only going to end up hurting yourself or in jail."

Police said recently that there had been an escalation in gang violence, including two murders.

Aaron Lewis, 26, was shot outside a chip shop in Wavertree while Thomas Baker, 44, was shot at Old Swan meat market.
