MPs are to hear from drink spiking victims later as they try to uncover the true extent of the crime.
Between September and October last year Merseyside Police dealt with more than 20 reports of drink-spiking or injecting in city centre bars and nightclubs.
Evidence is now being gathered as part of a national inquiry into violence against women and girls.
Rebecca Derbyshire was on a hen do in Mathew St when someone injected her with a needle speaking to us at the time she says it wasn't the first time she'd been targeted: "Mentally it's been a massive struggle since it happened and having to wait for blood tests back, at the time I was so shaken up.
"I've been spiked before and it was a lot worse, I couldn't really move and I was paralysed; I had to show my friend what I was trying to say on my phone. This, I felt more violated, you know if somebody puts a drug into your drink that you're not going to get something like HIV or hepititus.
"I'm really glad that more is being done now and we really need to pull together, as sad as it is it's nice to know that there is that community and I'm not on my own. It's easier to speak about it now than it was when it first happened and I thought that I was just going mad".
