As cases of Coronavirus continue to rise - schools across Merseyside are bringing back masks in class.

It comes as hundreds of pupils are told to work from home - including an entire year group at The Blue Coat in Wavertree - after positive cases were identified.

It's lead to some schools here introducing surge testing for pupils and staff to try to control outbreaks.

Kevin Sexton is the head at Chesterfield High in Crosby - they're making masks mandatory again from today:

"Over the last few days we've seen a significant transmission of the virus and therefore we've had to close a number of class bubbles.

"Fortunately we've been working around the class bubble idea so we haven't had to send year groups home but there's a significant increase in the local area so we are responding to Sefton public health guidance.

"We will do all we can over the next few weeks to ensure that children can get away on their Summer holidays as healthy as possible".
