Investigation underway after shooting on the Wirral

An investigation's underway following a shooting in Moreton on Wednesday night (10 August).
At 11.15pm, it was reported shots had been fired in the direction of a house on Danger Lane.
It was reported there were around four offenders on two motorbikes which then left the area.
There are no reports of anyone being injured.
A cordon has been established to allow for forensic examination of the scene, and potential witnesses are being spoken to with door-to-door and CCTV enquiries in progress.
Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has any information about what happened is asked to contact police.
Detective Inspector John Mullen from our Firearms Investigation Team said:
“Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident are at a very early stage, but we believe it was targeted.
“What we do know is that the whole community in will be saddened to wake up to the news that there has been a shooting on the streets of Moreton, and I am sure they will be keen to help us establish exactly what happened, why and ultimately who was responsible.
“Our officers are working around the clock and will be out talking to the community and gathering information so that the people responsible for this can be brought to justice.
“Thankfully there have been no reports of any injuries following this shooting, but we all know the risks firing a gun can pose.”
Detective Inspector Mullen added: “We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at about 11.15pm and witnessed the incident, saw the offenders on two motorbikes or saw anything suspicious to contact us.
“If you happened to be driving in the area and have dashcam footage, please check it and let us know if there is anything that may assist our enquiries.
“Merseyside Police will not tolerate the use of firearms on our streets and through targeted operations, stop checks, warrants and searches, our work to take them out of circulation goes on every day of the year.
“That work is often carried out as a direct result of information supplied by the public, so tell us what you know about firearms in Merseyside and we will do the rest.”
