Merseyside heads into new normal as last Covid restrictions lifted in England
You're no longer legally required to self-isolate if you catch Covid but it is still advised
More than 700 days after we were all told to stay at home, the last Covid laws in England have been lifted.
Since March 2020, people across Merseyside have been through three lockdowns, lived in 2 different tiers, and had their daily routines disrupted with a raft of restrictions.
But from today you're no longer legally required to self-isolate if you catch Covid, although you're still advised to stay at home for five days, and self-isolation support payments are gone for the lowest earners.
That's lead to concerns from local public health experts who've told us these measures are a bit premature and will open up more opportunities for new variants in the future.
