A man in his 60s has died after a collision at Haydock.

Merseyside Police say it happened on Liverpool Road near Pewfell Park around 4pm on Saturday (28th January).

The man was a pedestrian who was involved in a crash with a car.

Officers are reviewing local CCTV footage and are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who has a dashcam and was in the area at the time.

Chief Inspector Philip Cowin said: "Our thoughts and condolences are with the family of the man who has sadly lost his life following a collision earlier today.

"We have now launched an investigation into his death and his family will be supported by our specially trained liaison officers.

"I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident to please contact us. Alternatively, if you were driving in the vicinity, I ask that you please check your dashcam footage that may have captured the incident and to also come forward.

"Every piece of information is vitally important to our investigation to establish what happened."
