A man has been arrested following the shooting of a man in Woodchurch.

At around 6.30pm on Tuesday 22nd March officers were called to a report of a shooting on Hoole Road, at its junction with Ferry Brow Road.

A 23-year-old man presented at hospital afterwards with several gunshot wounds. He remains in hospital with life changing injuries.

Following extensive enquiries, a 28-year-old man from Beechwood was arrested yesterday on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

He has been taken into custody to be interviewed, while further enquiries into the incident continue.

Officers are treating the incident as a targeted shooting and believe that the male offender was driving a dark coloured Ford Fiesta that made off at speed towards Houghton Road, and was later found burnt out on Wildbrook Drive.
