31 year old man being questioned following incident in Fazakerley
Police have arrested a man on suspicion of criminal damage, dangerous driving, burglary, drugs offences and possession of criminal property after a police chase in Fazakerley.
At around 6.15pm yesterday evening (Tuesday 30 January) police patrols were at an address in Fazakerley when they noticed a car on the driveway that was stolen and on false plates from a burglary at a property in Whiston.
Whilst the officers were searching the vehicle two men driving a surron bike shouted at them and threw a rock at their police vehicle smashing one of the rear windows. The men then drove off on the bike and collided with another car in the area before running away from the officers.
Officers cordoned off the area and later spotted one of the men crouched down behind a vehicle outside a house on Alscot Avenue. Officers then chased the man through three gardens and detained him as he became aggressive and resisted arrest.
When officers searched the man they found cannabis, a Rolex watch and mobile phones showing messages for the sale of drugs.
The 31-year-old man from Fazakerley was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, dangerous driving, burglary, drugs offences and possession of criminal property.
He was taken to a police station in Merseyside where he remains in custody.
Local Policing Inspector Andy Robinson said: “Such violent behaviour towards our officers and damage to both police and public vehicles is totally unacceptable.
“Thanks to a successful police chase a man was quickly spotted and arrested on suspicion of serious offences.
“These arrests and searches of suspects are just some examples of the work our officers carry out, day in, day out to keep our communities in Knowsley safe.
“Our officers will continue to target criminals and carry out the necessary arrests to prevent such crimes that can destroy our communities, so if you have any information about this incident or anyone else responsible please contact us.
