Man arrested after teenage boy critically injured in Croxteth collision

The 13-year-old is being treated in hospital

Police have arrested a man and are continuing to investigate following a collision in Croxteth last night (Wednesday) in which a 13-year-old boy suffered critical injuries.

The incident happened at about 7.20pm when near to the Showcase cinema at Stonedale Retail Park, on the East Lancashire Road.

Following enquiries, a 34-year-old man from West Derby was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He was taken to a police station and remains in custody.

The boy has been taken to hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries, but remains in a critical condition

Detective Sergeant Amy Murray from our Matrix Roads Policing Unit said:

"The family of the boy are being supported by officers as our enquiries continue.

"If you witnessed the incident or hold any CCTV, dashcam or other information, please come forward now."
