Man arrested after Wirral stabbing

It happened in the early hours of Sunday morning

A 32-year-old man's being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder, after a man was stabbed on the Wirral.

Merseyside Police were called to reports of a stabbing on Colbert Close in the early hours of yesterday morning (Sunday 30 January).

A 35-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his neck where he remains in a stable condition.

Officers are carrying out forensic examinations, CCTV and witness enquiries.

Detective Inspector Paula Furlong said:

“Although a man has been arrested in the nearby area we are still in the early stages of our investigation as we try and piece together exactly what happened on Colbert Close.

“We understand this will be a shocking incident for neighbours and residents in the local community. Patrols will remain in the area to gather information and I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident, or has CCTV or video doorbell footage, to please contact us.”
