A man's admitting killing Sam Cook at Empire Bar but has denied murder

21 year old Sam from Crosby was stabbed to death at Empire Bar on Seel Street in October

Today 22 year old Carl Madigan appeared at Liverpool Crown Court where he denied murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter and possesion of a knife.

He appeared via video link from Walton Prison and spoke only to confirm his pleas

Appearing alongisde him was 20 year old Lewis Langfield from Anfield who denied a charge of assaulting Sam, causing him actual bodily harm.

Nicholas Johnson QC for the prosecution told the court the Crown did not accept the plea to manslaughter and both defendants will stand trial in the week commencing June 4th

Madigan was remanded into custody while Langfield was granted conditional bail.

Empire Bar has since had it's license revoked by Liverpool Council
