Nurse Lucy Letby on trial today accused of murdering seven babies

She is also charged with the attempted murder of ten children

Nurse Lucy Letby is going on trial today (October 4th) accused of the murder of seven babies at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Letby, from Arran Avenue in Hereford is appearing at Manchester Crown Court facing charges that she murdered five boys and two girls and attempted to murder a further five boys and five girls.

The 32-year-old denies all the allegations.

The murders are alleged to have happened between June 2015 and June 2016, while Letby was working in the neonatal unit of the Countess of Chester Hospital.

A court order has prohibited reporting of the identities of surviving and deceased children allegedly attacked by Letby.

It also prohibits identifying the parents or witnesses connected with the children.

The trial is estimated to last up to six months.
