Lime Street closes due to Storm Eunice

Lime Street will be closed in both directions from London Road to St George’s Place for three hours from 3pm today to allow the water filled barriers to be safely removed.

Access and egress into Queens Square Bus Station to remain open including egress from St Johns Car Park, but doing a right turn back up Lime Street will be prohibited for up to 3 hours.

The U turn from the car park/delivery exit ramp will not be available until 18:00 this evening.

Liverpool City Council have apologised for any inconvenience, and stated that they needed to act immediately on safety grounds.

Liverpool City Council have warned locals to stay indoors as much as possible and to not drive unless the journey is necessary.

A spokesperson for the Council said: 'Take care when driving on exposed routes such as bridges, or high open roads, delay your journey or find alternative routes if possible.

'If you do go out, try not to walk or shelter close to buildings and trees.

'Do not go outside to repair damage while the storm is in progress.'
