An investigation's underway after a teenage boy was hit by a moped on the Wirral which failed to stop at the scene.

At around 7pm on Wednesday 16 November, the teenager was crossing a road on Gardenside, Leasowe when he was struck.

The victim suffered a fractured wrist and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Merseyside Police are now appealing for any witnesses, CCTV, doorbell and dash camera footage.

Inspector of matrix Operations, Emma Haffenden said: “This was a particular nasty collision where the moped was riding at high speed and knocked over the boy, which left him not only in distress but with a broken wrist. His phone was also broken from the incident.

“I would urge anyone who was in the vicinity and saw a moped on the night riding recklessly to please contact us. I also ask residents to please check your CCTV and doorbell footage to see if it captures a moped being driven at high speed.”
