Investigation launched after man shot in Walton
An investigation is underway after a man was shot in Walton on Tuesday night.
At just after 8.45pm officers were called to Grey Road following reports that a man in his 30s had been shot in the leg.
The man is being treated in hospital.
His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
An investigation is currently underway and house-to-house and CCTV enquiries are ongoing in the local area.
Grey Road at its junction with Barton Road has been closed to allow investigation work to be carried out.
Chief Inspector Steve Rice/Sarah Jones said: "The investigation is in its very early stages. I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Grey Road this evening who saw anyone or anything suspicious to contact us.
"I would also ask for any drivers in the area who were in the area who have dash-cam footage which may have captured anything significant to get in touch.
"The use of guns will not be tolerated on our streets and I would ask the public for their assistance in helping to find the person or people responsible and bring them to justice."
