An investigation launched after human remains were discovered inside a jar at an empty home in Toxteth - has been called off

Police spent two days working to find out the identity of the remains, and how long they've been there.

They've since found out the remains were just an old medical specimen.

Merseyside Police have released a statement:

"We can confirm that a jar containing preserved human remains found at a property in Wordsworth Street in Toxteth on Monday 9th August has been confirmed as being an historical medical specimen.

"No further action has been taken and the matter is now concluded."
