Hillsborough : Three men accused of perverting the course of justice due to stand trial today

Two former South Yorkshire Police officers and a Solictor go on trial today linked to alleged changes made to witness statements in the aftermath of the disaster

Three men accused of perverting the course of justice in relation to the aftermath of the Hillsborough tragedy are due to stand trial today.

Ex-Chief Superintendent Donald Denton, former Detective Chief Inspector Alan Foster and solicitor Peter Metcalf will appear before a jury in Salford.

The prosecution is linked to alleged changes made to witness statements following the stadium disaster at the FA Cup semi-final on April 15th 1989.

Ninety six Liverpool fans died as a result of the crush on the Leppings Lane.

The trial's taking place at the Lowry theatre which is converted into a Nightingale Court because of the pandemic and comes 4 days after the 32nd anniversary of the tragedy.
