Tests are being carried out on a gun that was found during a raid in Speke

Officers recovered the weapon and a quantity of drugs following the execution of a warrant at a house on Bray Road on Saturday morning

Two men, aged 21 years and 26 years from Speke and a 48 year-old woman from Speke have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.

The gun is being forensically examined and tests will be carried out to establish if it is linked to any firearm incidents which have occurred in Merseyside.

Detective Inspector Alan Georgeson, said: "This latest recovery means there is one less firearm on our streets that could be used to cause fear, intimidation or harm.

"We are relentless in our pursuit of those involved in gun crime and will continue to take action to protect our communities from those intent on using firearms on our streets."

Those arrested have been taken to police stations on Merseyside where they will be interviewed by detectives.
