General Election - What's the picture for Merseyside?
It's now a hung parliament after the Tories failed to get a majority

The Conservatives are the largest party after the General Election but have fallen short of an overall majority
Here on Merseyside, it's been a good night for Labour who have not only held on to all of the seats they were defending but increased their majorities as well
In Liverpool, Walton, Wavertree, Garston & Halewood and West Derby all stayed Red, Dan Carden became the city's newest MP
. In Sefton, Labour also held Sefton Central, Bootle,
The Conservatives gained Southport from the Lib Dems
Labour also kept hold of Knowsley, St Helens North & South & Halton. In Cheshire, they gained Warrington South and Weaver Vale from the Tories
One of the key seats in the area was Wirral West - which Labour held with a tiny minority of just 417 in 2015
Going into the election, some believed Margaret Greenwood faced a real battle to keep her seat, but she increased her majority to 5,365 votes
Speaking to Radio City after the result Greenwood "We knew that our message on the doorstep was resonating with people"
"People want their public services protected, they want to see the NHS protected, they want to see more police on the streets"
It was a similar story in Wirral South where Alison McGovern comfortably fended off Conservative opposition.
She said: "I think the Conservatives often has a tendency for arrogance, in the end people in Wirral don't like being taken for granted, so they've sent a message to the Tories tonight"
