Five more people charged with the murder of Michael Toohey

The 18 year old was assaulted in an internet cafe in Liverpool

A further five people have been charged with the murder of 18-year-old Michael Toohey in Liverpool city centre in April this year.

Michael, of Oil Street, Liverpool sadly passed away following an assault at an internet café on London Road on Saturday 16 April.

Today, four men and a 14-year-old male from Kirkdale have been charged with his murder following their arrest on Wednesday 29 June.

The men charged are

• Jack Knox, aged 19, of Oakdale Close, Kirkby

• David Shelley, aged 25, of Chiltern Drive, Kirkby,

• Callum Hewell, aged 21, of Stratton Road, Kirkby

• Matthew Wynn, aged 25, of Mosslawn Road, Kirkby

The four men have been remanded into custody and will appear at Wirral Magistrates Court tomorrow, Friday 15 July.

The 14-year-old male will appear at Liverpool Youth Court this afternoon, Thursday 14 July.

A total of eight people have now been charged with Michael’s murder.

Michael Williams, 24 years, of Carlake Grove was arrested and subsequently charged on Wednesday 8 June with the murder. He appeared at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Thursday 9 June and was remanded into custody to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on 14 November.

Anthony Williams, 31, of Hillbrook Drive, Walton was arrested and charged with murder on 17 May, and following an appearance at Liverpool Magistrates Court that day, he was further remanded to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on 14 November.

Keiron Williams, 28 years, of no fixed abode was charged with murder on Thursday 30 June, following his arrest. He was further remanded to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on 14 November.

A total of 15 people have been arrested in connection with Michael's murder.

Three men, aged 27,19 and 54 arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have been Released Under Investigation. One woman, aged 34, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been bailed.

Two males, aged 14 and 15 and a 33-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder have been bailed.
