Hundreds of people have gathered at Anfield and the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool, to pay their respects to LFC Legend Roger Hunt.

'Sir Roger' as he was christened by the Kop scored 285 goals in 492 appearances for the Reds, and also was a part of England's World Cup winning side in 1966.

He passed away peacefully at home last month at the age of 83, following a long illness.

This morning, the funeral cortege made its way past Anfield.

The Service

Fans also gathered at the Anglican Cathedral, where family and Liverpool legends attended Roger's funeral.

Ian Callaghan MBE, Kevin Keegan OBE and Jimmy Tarbuck OBE, all paid tribute to him during the service.

Ian Callaghan said:

"I know that Roger's wife Rowan, and the family will be comforted by the outpouring of tributes to him. I have never heard anyone say a bad word about him... except perhaps one or two opposing defenders when he fired the ball into the net.

"Sir Roger MBE, gentleman, goal-scorer extraordinaire, rest in peace. Thank you."

Jimmy Tarbuck said:

"Roger Hunt, a man who inspired many positive qualities in everyone present. Loyalty, trust, good humour and a zest for life, and he made his own fun.

"To be born a gentleman is an accident, to die one is an achievement".
