Everton Await Green Light on Stadium Plans
Liverpool City Council's Planning Committee will make the decision today.
Everton fans will be keeping their fingers crossed today, as Liverpool City Council's set to make a decision on plans for a new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock.
The proposals have been recommended for approval, and today (Tuesday 23 February) the council's planning committee will make a decision.
If the plans are approved, the government would then have the final say.
The club hopes to host matches in the 52,888 seater ground as early as 2024.
Matt Jones from The Blue Room podcast said:
"It's a very exciting day for the football club. It's a day we've all been waiting for. Every time Everton get a little bit closer and tick another box off the checklist when it comes to Bramley Moore, it just makes the whole thing feel a lot more real.
"It's so hard not to be excited about the prospect of having a world-class stadium on the waterfront, pride of place in this wonderful city. It could be a great day for the club and I'm sure every Evertonian is going to have their fingers crossed when it goes in front of the council."
Liverpool City Council will also consider the plans for Goodison Park to be converted into affordable housing, a multi-purpose health centre, community-led retail and leisure spaces and a youth enterprise zone.
