Bereaved families on Merseyside say a Government Minister's apparent admission they were unprepared for Covid, must result in her being called as a witness, in the upcoming inquiry into the handling of the pandemic.

It's after Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries attacked former Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt on Social media, in the run up to the vote of confidence in the Prime Minister, over what she called his 'inadequate pandemic preparations' during his six years in office.

Laura Donovan-Hall's grandad died from Covid in 2020, after untested patients were released back into the care home he was living in.

She's calling for the independant inquiry to happen sooner rather than later :

"Grandparents, parents, sisters, friends. People in our communities who have sadly disappeared.

"It's about justice and us getting the answers and learning from mistakes that were made. We should have looked to the past and I think it's important to have that inquiry and learn as soon as possible.

"I hope she (Nadine Dorries) is called as a witness if she knows so much about how ill-prepared they were, if she has that evidence. We need to the answers.

"It's incredibly hurtful, especially to see it thrown about, particularly when it's got real consequences for people and our loved ones aren't here anymore".
