Teenager pleads not guilty to the murder of 12-year-old Ava White

A teenage boy has pleaded not guilty to the murder of 12-year-old Ava White in Liverpool.

The 14 year old, who can't be name for legal reasons, also entered a guilty plea to a charge of possession of an offensive weapon as he appeared via video link at Liverpool Crown Court this morning.

Ava was fatally stabbed after a Christmas lights switch on in the city centre on the 25th November.

At around 8.39pm, officers were called to reports of an assault around Church Alley.

Paramedics attended and Ava was taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

She sadly died a short time later.

An inquest later heard that Ava had been stabbed and died from a wound to the neck.

A trial date has been set for later May 2022.
