11 year old boy arrested after Police seize a knife in Huyton
Officers were called out to reports of a child carrying a large knife
A boy has been arrested after officers seized a knife in Huyton.
At around 5pm yesterday evening (Thursday 8 December) officers received a report that a boy was carrying a large knife on Liverpool Road in Huyton.
Officers in the area spotted and stopped the suspect in Jubilee Park on Dinas Lane. When officers searched the boy and the nearby area a large knife was found on the ground near the suspect.
An 11-year-old boy from Huyton was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article.
He was taken to a police station in Merseyside and has been referred to the Youth Offending Team.’
Inspector Mark Berry said: “A concerned member of the public alerted us to this worrying incident and thanks to them and the swift response of officers, a boy was identified and a weapon seized”
“Our officers are committed in removing anyone who stores, carries and uses weapons through proactive use of stop and search powers, open land searches, warrants and education work alongside partners. As in this case, the biggest key to this success can be those who live in the area and see or hear information.
“If you witness anyone carrying a weapon, call 999 immediately and we’ll do the rest. If you have any other information about weapons being stored, come to us direct or anonymously via Crimestoppers. The consequences of knife crime can be devastating for so many people, and every single weapon we seize is a risk removed from the streets.”
