The main man of 2013: Avicii was In:Demand on Tuesday

Alex James asked Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, about the story of his huge hit Wake Me Up. He said, "I was in LA working on the album, I'd already done a bunch of songs with Mike Einziger from Incubus. There was just something about it straight away that both of us fell in love with.

"I got super inspired straight away with the vocal melody. We finished that and realised we don't have anyone who sings, because none of us sing, obviously! I was working with Aloe Blacc on a bunch of other stuff already so I called Aloe up and fortunately he was available!"

Talking about the initial reaction to the song, Avicii said, "There were times where I second-guessed myself and wasn't 100% sure how it would end up. I knew straight away that this would shock people, especially my fans. But I also felt that this was going to be one of the things that was fun with it. It will shake people around and get their attention."
