National Youth Advocacy Service is a charity that operates a network of volunteer Independent Visitors who befriend children and young people being looked after by their local authority.

For many children in care, an independent visitor is the only adult in their life that spends time with them without being paid – this relationship can make a massive difference to a child’s life and an independent visitor can provide much needed stability to that child.

Radio City’s Cash for Kids have provided grants to the National Youth Advocacy service working with children in Knowsley, St Helen’s and Warrington and also in Flintshire, North Wales. Cash for Kids enabled an independent visitor to work with 25 children allowing them to experience things many other young people take for granted and allow them to try out new things like travelling further a field, going to a theme park, taking part in an arts workshop, going to the theatre or cinema or perhaps to see their favourite band. The children all chose which activities they wanted to enjoy.
