A suspected World War Two bomb has been removed from a garden in Norris Green last night.

A suspected World War Two bomb has been removed from a garden in Norris Green last night.

Officers were called to a property on Wapshare Road at 7.40pm after the device, believed to be a mortar shell or the end of an anti aircraft shell, was discovered in the back garden of a house.

A Police spokesperson said: "The Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team attended the address and removed the device. It was taken to Newsham Park where a controlled explosion was last night due to be carried out."
