Two men attacked by gang armed with golf clubs in Fazakerley

Merseyside Police is appealing for information after an assault in Fazakerley last night, Thursday 30 June. At around 9.00pm police recieved reports that two men had been assaulted near to a takeaway on Longmoor Lane. It is believed that a group of around 10 offenders, some armed with golf clubs, attacked the victims as they left the takeaway, following an earlier verbal argument.

The offenders ran away from the scene towards Sherwoods Lane. Police officers and an ambulance attended and the first victim was found to have suffered facial injuries, with the second victim sustaining an arm injury. CCTV enquiries are ongoing in the area of Longmoor Lane, and forensic enquiries have been carried out at the scene. Detective Chief Inspector Phil Mahon from Liverpool CID said: "Although this investigation is in an early stages, it initially appears that this was an unprovoked attack by a large group of males around 17-20 years old, and we are determined to identify those responsible. "This would have been a shocking attack to witness, so I would urge anyone with information to contact police, whether you saw the argument, the assault, or saw a group of men running off towards Sherwoods Lane around 9pm.” Anyone with information about this incident should call Liverpool CID on 0151 777 4065, call 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
