Tranmere fan banned for five years after brawl
A 19 year old man has been given a 5 year football banning order after a brawl between Tranmere and Lincoln supporters last year.
A 19 year-old man has been given a five year football banning order after being found guilty of a public order offence following a disturbance involving football fans outside a Tranmere Rovers game.
On Saturday 24 October 2015, Tranmere Rovers played Lincoln City in an FA Cup tie at Prenton Park. After the fixture kicked off officers on mobile patrol came across a fight between a group of Tranmere Rovers and Lincoln City football fans in a rear entry behind the Halfway House pub in Prenton.
Nathaniel Hannon, of Raeburn Avenue, Eastham, was charged with s4 public order offence and found guilty earlier this month following a trial at Wirral Magistrates Court. A second male was found not guilty.
Hannon was also given a three year conditional discharge and a fine of ÂŁ665 after appearing at Wirral Magistrates Court this week.
Chief Inspector Paul Sutcliffe said: "As the football season has now started I want to make it clear that Merseyside Police takes a zero tolerance approach when it comes to tackling football violence and we will do everything within our powers to bring the people responsible for behaviour such as this to justice.
"We will also continue to work with our partners at Tranmere Rovers to ensure that football matches remain an event for everyone to enjoy and that members of the public do not have to witness acts of violence involving football fans on the streets of Merseyside."
